  1. i found out that if you use a food processor, I have a cup size that retails for about $10 and grind the chicken up you have lot less trouble eating chicken. Eating it any other way it is very painful. Ground chicken still poses a problem.

  2. I had the same problem after my gastric bypass. It was a year before I could eat chicken, and even now if it is too dry or not chewed REALLY well, I will throw it up. Best if eaten with something liquid like broth, or the really soft meat of chicken wings…Tolerated eggs ok. Good luck with GB….still the best thing I ever did, I don’t regret ever!! Thanks Dr. Katsis, you are AWESOME!!!

  11. Nuts are indeed a good substitute; they are gorged with protein, plus fiber and vit E… which is a fat soluble vitamine we need!

  13. maybe you wish to try it as ground?…
I am a vegatarian, … and I got problems with seitan ;) … so even veggies are not shielded from these jams at the exit of your first stomach!

  16. Newly post-ops sometimes have issues with chicken but further out you’ll be fine :) I had a bit of a hard time with it getting stuck at first but by 6-7 weeks post-op I was having NO problems with it. :)

  17. Good advice, thanks for sharing your experience with chicken. I am pre-op and of course chicken has always been the “good” meat, low fat/high protein. I’m really trying to get all the info I can before surgery, bad as well as good, and it’s great to have some forewarning about things that might not be so tummy-friendly.

And Amelia, your videos are so great. You are a real sweetheart.

  21. i too can do chicken, but not pork.

my surgeon lets us eat chicken, but at 6 months out since it’s stringy and our tummies can’t handle it yet.

  22. Yeah, beans are great! I’ve shyed away from them because that’s all I ate in the pureed form 2 weeks out and I got so tired of them! But your beans look awesome! I hope you can eat it with an egg in it. PS Moxy is so cute!

  23. Chicken is probably the easiest meat for me to eat. I am so thankful because I love chicken!!!! I just made the best homemade chicken salad. I had heard that it could be a problem and was so worried but I don’t have a problem with it.

  24. That rocks! am jealous. I am putting up a video on my black beans and my chili soon. The black beans taste awesome with a fried egg in them. I wish I could have them that way, may try to see if I can keep it down with the beans. Beans are so soothing in my pouch, they never make me sick

  25. I’m ok with chicken and eggs. Each person is different post-op, strangely enough. You’d think the surgery would affect us all the same!
